Dear Monique,

When Cat asked me to write something, at first, I didn't know what to say. We were so close before; we were best friends. Yet as we grew, I guess we also grew apart in ways. However, I don't want to think about that, because to be quite honest, I don't think I ever lost the times we shared as such good friends. I remember all the times that I spent over at your house on Venables, and how you were so creative in always thinking of games and fun things we could do. We were always up to something, and it was always fun! That was when we were really young, but our good times continued... and when you moved to North Van. I remember always wanting to spend my free time up there. You had that kind of affect on people... a loving way that you made them feel wanted. I will never forget that.

Among all the memories I have of us growing up in the early teens, what really sticks in my head is the way you were. Your personality, I admired, your kindness, your joy, your passion for adventure I looked up to. Wherever you went, and whomever you met, you always had a way to making people see this strength in you. I think you will always have a continuing impact on my life, for I really saw the strength in your personality, and many times wished it for my own. On top of your outer beauty, you had this inner beauty that everyone could see, and you touched me with this and I will always remember you for that.

People like you come once in a lifetime, and I am glad to have had the opportunity to say that I knew Monique Ishikawa. Monique, wherever you may be, I have always admired you, and will always love you.
